Normal Ranges of Auditory Brainstem Response in Guinea Pigs

Abstract
The ABR(auditory brainstem response audiometory), necessary in otoneurologic diagnosis and differential diagnosis of branistem lesions, has been used in otologic animal experiments due to its objectiveness, reproducibility, noninvasiveness, and
stability to sedatives and anesthetics. The guinea pig is favored in morphologic study for its peculiar cochlea protruding into the tympanic cavity. The significance in relation the morphologic finding to the audiometric change in otologic
experiments
necessitates ABR measurement in guinea pigs.
The author obtained normal ranges of ABR in normal guinea pigs(n=10) as a preliminary study in otologic research.
